In the first issue of this issue, we have extracted a commentary on Camus in The Times Literature Supplement and denounced Camus’s faddy attitude toward the national independence movement in Algeria. In this article, we can also see that although Camus was certainly “leftist,” but it was the author’s non-communist left to save Europe, his true face would not be hard to imagine. The article argues that Camus’ determination was to re-add moral language to political language, but in fact Camus was actually doing away with political struggles and replacing it with abstract moral values. Although he said that he was overly concerned with the Algerian people His “Left” is no different from hypocrisy.
