Objective To investigate the relationship between lipid metabolism and diabetic retinopathy. Methods Serum levels of total cholesterol (CH), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), apolipoprotein A1 ), Apolipoprotein B100 (ApoB100) and lipoprotein (a) [Lp (a)]. The retina condition was also observed in these patients. Results Serum total cholesterol, LDL-C and Lp (a) in patients with diabetic retinopathy were significantly higher than those without diabetic retinopathy, while the ratios of HDL-C, ApoA1 and ApoA1 / ApoB100 were significantly higher than those without diabetic retinopathy Lesion patients significantly reduced. Logistic regression analysis showed that total cholesterol, HDL-C and ApoA1 / ApoB100 were still associated with diabetic retinopathy as independent factors. Conclusion Abnormal lipid metabolism may be an important factor in the occurrence and aggravation of diabetic retinopathy.
