Brazil and Germany have collaborated with research institutes to build a steel tower in the depths of the Amazon rainforest to observe the atmospheric carbon dioxide levels in the region and document changes in meteorological conditions in order to further assess the role of the Amazon rainforest in mitigating global warming effect. The height of the observation tower is 325 meters, one meter above the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The steel tower is located in the capital of Amazonas state in northern Brazil
