A survey of 900 head of business in 39 countries by the German company Delaware Consulting concluded that as manufacturing technologies continue to improve, the competitive focus of international manufacturing in the next century will shift from product quality to service. Manufacturers who can respond quickly to the needs of their customers and meet different requirements will be the winners of market competition.
