氧气 是人类赖以生存的一大要素。然而,在人的呼吸过程中,有的氧气会成为氧自由基。它们的化学性质很活跃,可攻击生物膜、蛋白质、核酸,使之受到氧化损伤。这种氧化损伤的积累,就是衰老的进程。尽管我们机体内有着各种抗氧化剂和抗氧化酶,但随着年龄的增长,体内抗氧化酶的活性逐步降低,而氧自由基却有增无减,导致生理系统功能衰退,并诱发多种癌症及老年病。
