宗教艺术有其自身的属性与特点,其艺术形态一般服从于宗教模式。宗教本身形态复杂,传播过程多样。有世界性宗教、民族性宗教、地域性宗教;也有原始形态宗教、多神教与一神教等,从宗教学的角度也很难从一种理论模式、一以贯之加以归纳。但是宗教艺术与其传播方式(即传教模式)有极为密切的关联;宗教艺术与其所生长演化的地域环境、民族风习也有密切的关联。区域性宗教本身特征较强、覆盖面大及达于世界范围的宗教在此方面情况更为突出明显,其包容性、统一性与多样性蕴涵极丰。
Religious art has its own attributes and characteristics, and its art form is generally subordinate to the religious model. Religion itself is complex in form and spread in a variety of ways. There are worldwide religions, ethnic religions and regional religions. There are also primitive forms of religion, polytheism and monotheism. From a religious point of view, it is hard to draw conclusions from a theoretical model and consistently. However, religious art has a very close relationship with its mode of transmission (that is, the mode of preaching). The religious art is also closely related to the geographical environment and ethnic customs that it has evolved. Regional religions, which themselves are characterized by strong, well-established and religious religions, have become more prominent in this respect, and their inclusion, unity and diversity are extremely rich.
