对于一些世界上最具竞争力的跨国企业而言,韩国正变成一片死亡地带。韩国市场在1997年至1998年金融危机的末期迅速开放,此后,国际集团纷纷涌入这个亚洲第四大经济体,然而许多国际集团一直在艰难地与本土企业竞争。不仅全球第一大零售商沃尔玛以及法国家乐福撤出了韩国市场,其他诸如麦当劳、可口可乐、Google 及诺基亚等跨国企业,在韩国的日子也不好过。
For some of the world’s most competitive multinationals, South Korea is becoming a dead zone. Since the end of the financial crisis in 1997-98, the South Korean market was rapidly opening up. Since then, international groups have poured into the fourth-largest economy in Asia. However, many international groups have been struggling to compete with local enterprises. Not only did Wal-Mart, the world’s largest retailer, and Carrefour, a French company, withdrew from the Korean market, but other multinational corporations such as McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Google and Nokia have not been able to do well in South Korea.
