A team of scientists at the Agricultural Research Service in Logan, Utah, uses two genetic engineering techniques - embryo culture and chromosome doubling - to breed some of the newer plants than ever before. Geneticist Richard R-C.Wang and his aides have cultivated a drought-tolerant grass for the western prairies, which is 25% more productive than the original grass. Wang believes that “using these technologies, almost any combination of the possibilities becomes possible.” Used to improve the ice grass
