由于地层含油气后对高频成分吸收增强、吸收系数增大,这为利用吸收系数预测油气及含油气范围提供了理论依据。实验表明,地层对地震波的吸收作用主要取决于岩石骨架的弹性性质、岩石的孔隙率及孔隙中含流体成分等,因此沿反射层位计算地震波的吸收性质及其横向变化可以用来预测岩性和含油气性。
