Scientists have always attached importance to the definition of all terms, so “analytical chemistry” and “chemical analysis” should also be clearly defined. Analytical chemistry is the creation of new analytical methods, in particular the simplification of complex compositional research methods, to enable specialized science to be used in chemical analysis. Chemical analysis is often analysis, itself is not research. Analysis has always had two purposes: (1) the identification of ingredients, that is qualitative; (2) the determination of ingredients, that is, quantitative. The term “ingredient” is also ambiguous. For example, in the usual analysis of a mixture of several compounds, the ingredients identified or measured are not the compounds but the entire mixture
