液晶显示器的应用日益广泛,普遍应用的液晶显示器如扭曲向列(Twisted Nemetic,TN),超扭曲向列(Super Twisted Nemetic,STN),电控双折射(Electrically Controled Birefrigence,ECB)及宾主效应(Guest—Host effect,GH)等都是通过对偏振光的调制来实现显示的,因而研究液晶显示器中偏振光的行为有重要的意义.本文介绍了处理液晶显示器件偏振光问题的一般性办法,如琼斯矩阵.Berreman4×4矩阵及庞加莱球表示法,并由此进而介绍了广泛应用的几种液晶显示器的原理.最后,还介绍了用来提高显示特性如对比度,视角及色度等的膜补偿法的原理以及我们采用正性补偿膜补偿后的STN显示器的实例.
The applications of liquid crystal displays are becoming more and more widespread. Commonly used liquid crystal displays such as Twisted Nemetic (TN), Super Twisted Nemetic (STN), Electrically Controlled Birefrigence (ECB), and Host Effect Guest-Host effect, GH) and so on are all realized by modulating polarized light, so it is of great significance to study the behavior of polarized light in liquid crystal displays.This paper introduces a general approach to deal with the problem of polarized light in liquid crystal display devices, Such as the Jones matrix .Berreman4 × 4 matrix and the Poincare sphere representation, and thus introduces several widely used principles of LCD .Finally, also introduced to improve display characteristics such as contrast, viewing angle and colorimetry The principle of the film compensation method and our example of the STN display compensated by the positive compensation film.
