伍蠡甫字敬庵，广东新会人。译作家伍光建哲嗣。留学英国伦敦大学，国际笔会中国分会会员。１９３７年赴伦敦皇家学会，讲演中国绘画。次年任复旦大学文学院长，撰《谈艺录》。先生擅国画，继承石涛传统，旁参西洋画法，任故宫博物院顾问时，和院长马衡共同鉴定院藏书画名迹数百件，胸罗万卷，一发之于山水画。８０年代，任复大博士生导师，在比较文艺学、中西画论、美学理论比较方面，撰写大量专著，纷载国内外学刊，为朱光潜所激赏，敦促在北大出版《中国画论研究》宏著。 笔者与伍老书札往还甚多，兹选其六。
