建国以来,我国柑桔生产的发展经历了恢复发展、停滞不前和大发展等3个时期。恢复发展时期的1949~1958年,柑桔面积和产量分别由49万亩、21万吨上升到150万亩、35万吨。停滞不前时期的1959~1977年,尽管面积由150万亩增加到近300万亩,但产量一直在40万吨以下徘徊。从1978年开始,我国柑桔生产进入了大发展时期,1978~1989年的12年间,除土988年因遭受自然灾害未获丰收外,其余11年各年产量均高于上一年,面积和产量分别由342万亩、41万吨上升到1500万亩、480万吨,面积和产量分别净增1158万亩、439万吨,分别增长了3.4倍和11倍,从而使我国柑桔面积跃居世界第1位,产量仅次于巴西、美国,居世界第3位。

The area And output respectively increased from 342 million mu and 410,000 tons to 15 million mu and 4.8 million tons respectively, with a net increase of 11.58 million mu and 4.39 million tons respectively, an increase of 3.4 times and 11 times respectively. As a result, the area of citrus in China Ranking No. 1 in the world, yield second only to Brazil, the United States, ranking No. 3 in the world.
