孙处约(603-671),字茂道,汝州郏城(今河南平顶山)人.唐高宗朝宰相.《旧唐书》卷四《高宗本纪·上》、《新唐书》卷三《高宗本纪》“麟德元年十二月戊子”条,均言孙处约以西台侍郎参知政事.rn《旧唐书》卷八十一《孙处约传》(以下简称《旧唐书·本传》)言其“三迁中书侍郎,与李勤、许敬宗同知国政.寻避中宫讳,改名茂道”(中华书局,1975年,页2758).中书侍郎即西台侍郎.《唐会要》卷五十四《省号上·中书侍郎》记载:“武德元年,因隋旧制,号内史侍郎.三年三月十日,改为中书侍郎.龙朔中,改为西台侍郎.咸亨中
