Fujitsu Laboratories has developed an ultra-fast light source for long-distance optical fiber transmission. It consists of a monolithic block of distributed feedback lasers and an electro-absorption modulator that reduces the chirp that affects the modulation of the output feedback power of the distributed feedback laser.
