All who work in tinplate now think the material has good prospects for development. B.T.K. Barry believes that tinplate can further achieve a wide range of properties and further reduce sheet thickness without losing strength, thereby reducing package weight while providing superior performance. In such a development, it has to be taken into account that as the thickness of the sheet decreases, the increase in area of the tinplate produced is much greater than the increase in weight. Tinplate is very different from country to country in terms of average demand. For example, in 1969, the average population of tin plate in the Federal Republic of Germany was only one third of that in the United States, because import cans were not considered here, Countries can not be compared. There are currently plans to build tinplate units in countries that have so far not had tinplate manufacturing. Over 90% of tinplate is used for packaging.
