2006年底,故宫书画部研究员余辉先生应大英博物馆之邀访问该馆,整理其收藏的全部中国书画。囿于历史文化背景的差异,大英博物馆虽富藏中国书画三千,但几乎全部倾向绘画,鉴定结论亦颇基础,多为本馆专家或日本研究者提出的初步意见。还记得几年前大英博物馆与故宫首次合作的“英国与世界”大展,颇受媒体关注,最重要的一件展品就是深藏该馆很少示人的元人绘《乾坤生意图》,而坊间议论的余绪,似乎绕过了展览本身,而落在英国收藏众多的中国古代文物何时能以同样开放的姿态展现于大众面前。作者以其在故宫多年研究中国古代书画的背景,为该馆所藏中国书画的分级、保藏提供了多项实用的建议,更对作品细细梳理研究,有研究上全新的发现、有与故宫所藏的惊喜对接、也有学术之外的个人感受……而余辉先生这次访问研究的工作手记,就集结成为本栏目新一轮连载——《英伦读画录》。感谢余辉先生的细心整理,也要特别感谢大英博物馆对藏品开放研究的态度——其实这才是博物馆开放于学者公众的常态。连载中绍介的许多作品都是首次公开,可一飨热爱中国古代绘画的读者,亦为同道研究者抛砖引玉。

After years of studying the background of ancient Chinese painting and calligraphy in the Forbidden City, the author has provided many practical suggestions for the grading and preservation of the Chinese painting and calligraphy in the museum.
