Objective: To investigate the effect of vagal and sympathetic nerves in rabbits on the maintenance of intercostal gallbladder pressure (GP). Methods: Forty-seven healthy adult rabbits were anesthetized by intravenous urethane, triamcinolone acetonide and artificial respiration after fasting but free water for 15 to 18 hours. Gallbladder (GB) built into the frog bladder bladder method for the determination of GP. Results: In the interdigestive period, GB of rabbits maintained a steady basal pressure. There was no significant change of GP within 30 min after intravenous injection of saline. Electrical stimulation (2 m A, 1 0 Hz, 2 ms, 10 s) induced a GP increase in the distal vagus nerve, while atropine (0.2 mg / kg) was administered intravenously to stimulate the vagus nerve without changes in GP. There was no significant change in GP after bilateral neck vagus nerve or intravenous injection of atropine (0.2 mg / kg). After the first thoracic cord was severed, GP decreased significantly; GP increased after intravenous injection of norepinephrine (0 01 mg / kg); GP decreased after injecting phenolplatin (1.5 mg / kg) After intravenous propranolol (1 .5mg / kg) GP change was not obvious. CONCLUSION: The maintenance of GP in rabbits during interphase is mainly related to the sympathetic nerve and the peripheral α receptor, and the effect of the vagus nerve does not appear to be significant.
