在第四代导演中,韦廉的艺术生涯与众不同。身为军人,他的创作大部分都是任务、或组织指定的,他拍摄的影片几乎都是战争片。但他在有限的空间里,极力展现自己的电影理想。他幸运地参加了中国电影史上最大规模战争系列片的拍摄,对战争与人类有深刻的认识。他的影片纠结在两极:生与死、爱与恨、战争与和平、青春与生命、纪实与浪漫,并试图找到其中的关联。他让战争片中绽放出令人炫目的人性美。
In the fourth generation of directors, William Lian’s artistic career different. As a soldier, most of his creations are mission-specific or organization-designated. Almost all of his films are war films. But he is in a limited space, trying hard to show his movie ideal. He was fortunate to have taken part in the filming of the largest series of war films in the history of Chinese film, with a profound understanding of war and humankind. His films are tangled in the twins: life and death, love and hate, war and peace, youth and life, documentary and romance, and trying to find the connections. He let the war film bloom in a dazzling humanity beauty.
