The Mido Lockheed Missile and Space Company Research Laboratory has confirmed the possibility of using an extremely broadband laser communications system for future satellite relay programs. It is said that the system was designed to transmit simulated information from low-orbit satellites to remote ground stations at high rates, using one or more geostationary satellites as relay stations.
