事实上,Internet并不是单一的网络,而是由许许多多各式各样的网络组成的“俱乐部”。Internet之所以如此当仁不让地占据着计算机网络头一把交椅,因为它坐收了各个网络的“渔利”。不管你是AT&T还是Microsoft,甚至是谁家地下室里拼凑的一个试验性网络,只要是需要与其它网络系统之间传递信息,都需要与之相连,接受“整编”,统统地被称为Internet子网。现在Internet收罗的子子孙孙数以万计,而分布于世界各个角落的Internet用户已达几千万,而这些数据仍然在以两位数的年递增率高速增长着。
