The authors constructed a DNA plasmid, pCMX-ENV, that encodes the glycoprotein of the Japanese Encephalitis virus (JEV) envelope (E) alone and expresses the E protein intracellularly after transfection into Vero cells. The authors studied their defensive effects on intracerebral (ic) JEV challenge with intramuscular (im) and in (in) inoculation in mice.
