永平是大理的西大门,全县国土面积2884平方公里,山区占93.8%,下辖4乡3镇,72个村委会和1个社区居委会,总人口18.16万人,其中农业人口16.2万人,占89.2%;永平交通便利,自古以来就是云南腹地通往保山、怒江、德宏等地的交通咽喉和通往缅甸等南亚国家的交通要冲,古有著名的“西南丝绸之路”博南古道,今有320国道、大保高速公路和在建的大瑞铁路穿境而过,是滇西最大的农特产品集散地。

The ancient famous “Southwest Silk Road ”Bonan Road, now has 320 State Road, Dabao Expressway and the construction of the Darui Railway passing through, is the largest distribution center for agricultural products in western Yunnan.
