陆埠佛雕起源于魏晋时代,流行于唐代,鼎盛于清代。东晋咸康二年(336)余姚建龙泉寺后,境内及周边宁波地区佛寺大增,而陆埠一带建庙之风尤甚,当地有“三里一庙”之说。明清时期为陆埠佛雕鼎盛时期,最多时佛雕艺人达四百余人。根据佛雕在风格、刀法和造型等方面的差异,我国的佛像木雕工艺历来有“浙江艺派”(又称宁波派)和“福建艺派”之分,即一般意义上的“文派”和“武派”。而“浙江艺派”的集中地一直是以陆埠为中心的宁波地区,因此宁波一带的佛雕工艺又被佛
