Windsor Mackay was America’s premier comedy cartoonist before the First World War. However, few appraisers know their art 25 years ago. Today, the Katatana Gallery of Art in Westchester, New York, features Mackay’s original manuscripts of manga and cartoons, marking a clear rise in the cartoons. In the center of the exhibit was erected a dozen or so large comic works of his series “Little Nim” from 1905 to 1911. After 1911, his boss opposed the mass production of cartoons, which in fact made Mackay’s artistic talent fail to be fully realized.
