八十年代的中国影坛,流传着这样一句话:“西望长安,有个西影厂;西望长安,有个吴天明。”作为电影导演,吴天明以《没有航标的河流》《人生》《老井》等现实主义力作,高扬着关注现实人生的优秀艺术传统;作为当时中国最年轻的电影厂厂长,他识才爱才,鼎力提携了张艺谋、陈凯歌、田壮壮、黄建新、何平、周晓文、顾长卫等一代影坛新秀。一九八九年四月,他作为访问学者应邀赴美先后在美国几个大学讲授中国电影。一九九四年春回国后,相继拍出了《变脸》、十二集电视连续剧《黑脸》和电影《非常爱情》。
In the 1980s, there was a saying circulated in the Chinese cinema in the 1980s: “Looking westward Chang’an, there is a movie studio in West; Chang’an in the west, and Wu Tianming in the west.” As a film director, Wu Tianming takes “the river without beacon” “Old Well” and other realism masterpiece, allegations of outstanding art traditions concerned about the real life; as the youngest director of China Film Factory, he knows only love, full supportive Zhang Yimou, Chen Kaige, Tian Zhuang Zhuang, Huang Jianxin, He Ping, Zhou Xiaowen, Gu Chang Wei and other film rookie. In April 1989, as a visiting scholar, he was invited to the United States successively to teach Chinese films to several universities in the United States. After returning to the country in the spring of 1994, they successively produced “Change Faces”, a series of 12 television series “Black Faces” and a movie “Very Love.”
