根据广东省统计局数据,2002年,广东省石油和化学工业产值(现价)为1552.5亿元,销售收入为1456.5亿元,利润 总额123.8亿元,税金89.7亿元,分别占广东省九大产业总量的12.91％,12.76％,24.08％,21.88％,其中,利润总额和税金 总额均列九大产业第二位。但是,广东省石油和化工总量规模排在山东、江苏、辽宁之后,居全国第四位。 研究报告指出,广东省石油和化工拥有一定的研究开发能力,尤其是在涂料、树脂专用料、乙烯长周期运行技术等方 面的开发研究处于国内领先地位,但在其他领域的研究开发和工艺技术创新能力方面比较薄弱。资料显示,2002年,广东 石化产业研发投入占销售收入的比重仅为0.09％,低于华东地区各省,也低于全国平均水平(0.25％)。
