冀东是我戎马生涯中最难忘的地方。1940年至1947年,我在这里参加敌后抗战和反蒋自卫战争。这里的山山水水,留下我无数的足迹。特别是我几次负伤,都是在群众掩护下转危为安的,我终生不会忘记老百姓是我的救命恩人,是子弟兵四季赖以生存的“青纱帐”。
Jidong is the most memorable place in my military career. From 1940 to 1947, I participated here in the war of resistance behind enemy lines and of self-defense against Chiang Kai-shek. The mountains and rivers here, leaving me countless footprints. In particular, when I was wounded several times, I turned critically ill under the cover of the masses. For all my life, I will not forget that the common people are my benefactors and the “blue gauze” that the four quarters of our troops rely on for survival.
