西方新马克思主义理论家大卫·哈维在其《后现代的状况》一书中原创性地提出当代资本积累的弹性机制问题。对于后现代主义问题,哈维是基于资本主义生产方式这一独特视角去阐释文化现象与生产方式之间关系的,并在此基础之上承认后现代主义是晚期资本主义的文化逻辑。尤为重要的是,哈维通过洞悉全球化资本主义时代资本运行的秘密并最终将后现代主义落到元理论之上,进而提出了现代资本主义生产方式与马克思元理论之间的关联问题。
David Harvey, a Western neo-Marxist theorist, in his book The Postmodern Situation originally proposed the flexible mechanism of contemporary capital accumulation. For postmodernism, Harvey interprets the relationship between cultural phenomena and modes of production based on the unique perspective of capitalist mode of production, and on this basis admits that postmodernism is the cultural logic of late-stage capitalism. More importantly, Harvey, through the insight into the secrets of capital operation in the era of globalized capitalism and eventually the fall of post-modernism onto the meta-theory, put forward the question of the connection between the modern capitalist mode of production and the Marxist meta-theory.
