梅花的叶片每到夏季就会自然卷曲,甚至泛黄早落,这往往给人的感觉是缺水,但实际上盆土并不干。经调查,也非病菌浸染所致,而是与其本身的结构密切相关的。根据实验结果分析,可看出梅花与桃、杏在输水与耗水结构上以及叶片耐旱能力上有差别。见下表:从表中可以看出梅与桃、杏相比,其输导组织结构与耗水组织结构不协调,气孔调节能力差,耐旱力差,以致叶片产生严重的水分亏缺,导致叶片卷曲。其叶片向上卷是因为梅叶上表皮层细胞特大及叶片厚,水分亏缺后上表皮细胞失水较多,体积缩小,因此表现为叶片向上卷曲而不是萎蔫。
