The rats were injected with deoxycorticosterone acetate (DOCA) daily for 5, 10, 20 or 30 days, serum potassium levels were reduced by approximately 25%, and serum sodium concentrations remained unchanged during this period. The potassium concentration of long extensor muscles and soleus muscles decreased significantly, and sodium concentration increased. With these changes in electrolyte concentration, the resting membrane potential of the two muscles was hyperpolarized at body time, and the out-polarization phenomenon was exhibited as the external potassium concentration decreased. Damage to muscle mitochondria. The extent of damage in the long extensor digitorum tendon is more severe than in the soleus muscle. The degree of damage is related to the length of the period of use of deoxycorticosterone acetate.
