认知情态助动词是模糊语言形态层面的语言原型,有着独特的语义特征和语篇功能。以母语为英语的硕士生论文摘要为语料库,首先探讨了硕士生论文摘要中的认知情态助动词在各个学科分布特点,得出情态助动词与各个学科研究方法和特点没有必然联系的结论。然后进一步探析和归纳了九个认知情态助动词的模糊性及搭配特征,由此揭示出认知情态助动词在调和学术语言的委婉语气和精准程度中的作用。
Cognitive modal auxiliary verbs are verbal prototypes at the level of vague language, with unique semantic features and textual functions. First of all, this paper discusses the distribution of cognitive modal verbs in master’s thesis abstracts, and concludes that modal auxiliary verbs are not necessarily related to the research methods and features of various disciplines. Then it further explores and summarizes the fuzziness and collocation features of nine cognitive modal auxiliary verbs, revealing the role of cognitive modal auxiliary verbs in reconciling the euphemism and preciseness of academic languages.
