本文所言四贤,并无历史约定,惟其毕生所集之大成,均奠定于民国时期的上海,放据此归并,称为“沪上四杰”。张元济不可追1949年9月19日,适逢百废待兴的建国前夕,席不暇暖的毛泽东约见了张元济,并邀其同游天坛。当晚,张元济不无得意地对儿子张树年说:“我活到耄耋之年,见过光绪,见过袁世凯,见过孙中山,见过蒋介石,今天又见了毛泽东。”
The four sages mentioned in this essay have no historical agreement, but the culmination of their lifelong collection is laid down in Shanghai during the Republic of China. According to this, the four sages are called “Shanghai Four Sects.” On September 19, 1949, on the eve of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Mao Zedong, who was in short supply, met Zhang Yuanji and invited him to travel with the Temple of Heaven. That night, Zhang Yuanji said with no regret to his son Zhang Shu-nien: "I lived till the end of my life, met Guangxu, met Yuan Shikai, met Sun Yat-sen, met Chiang Kai-shek and met Mao Tse-tung again today.
