本研究结合量的和质的研究方法,在对一所涉外文科院校2005级非英语专业本科生基础阶段跟踪研究的基础上,继续对他们在高年级阶段的英语学习动机类型、动机强度进行考察。结果显示,高年级大学生的英语学习动机与低年级阶段保持了总体上的连续性,如内在兴趣动机持续上升,且在质的材料中得到支持;也出现了一些变化,如质的材料分析中出现的考试动机,可以看作成绩动机在高年级阶段的表现形式。
