历史上云南建筑装饰釉陶的主要产地以华宁为代表,华宁的琉璃业在云南颇负盛名,其历史悠久,特色鲜明。由于历史的变迁,华宁建筑装饰釉陶逐渐势微,但作为云南重要的陶瓷种类,华宁建筑装饰釉陶具有重要的学术研究价值,保护、调查和研究其制作工艺与艺术特色显得尤为重要。建筑装饰釉陶是中国建筑中不可缺少的建筑材料,在建筑构造上担任重要的角色,弥补了无釉建筑陶性能上的不足,一方面满足构造上的功能需要,同时又显现出极为丰富的装饰特征和审美趣味。云南建筑装饰釉陶是中国建筑陶瓷的一个重要代表,研究其制作工艺和艺术特征对深入发掘地方特色和保持文化多样性的持续发展,具有深远意义。
