The author conducted several experiments in a 10 × 6-meter basin with the aim of modeling the turbidity produced by the 1875 Horgen landslide event. The kinetic conditions in the experiment are similar to the prototype events. Through experiments, the handling mechanism triggered by Hogan landslide has been further recognized. Experimental turbid water deposited a very thick sediment on the subaqueous fan while radial handling provided a thin mat-like turbidite reservoir on the basin floor, both comparable to the simulated Lake Zurich sediments .
