葡糖胺-6-磷酸合酶催化氨基己糖代谢和细胞壁合成的第一步反应,即利用D-果糖-6-磷酸和L-谷氨酰胺生成葡糖胺-6-磷酸和谷氨酸,该途径的终产物N-乙酰葡糖胺是细菌和真菌细胞壁构建的基本成分。真菌、昆虫和甲壳类动物的几丁质,哺乳动物的糖蛋白和黏多糖都是通过N-乙酰葡糖胺最终合成的。葡糖胺-6-磷酸合酶是一个胰岛素调节酶,介导II型糖尿病的胰岛素抵抗。因此葡糖胺-6-磷酸合酶被认为是开发抗细菌、抗真菌、治疗II型糖尿病及其相关并发症等疾病的药物的分子靶标。
Glucosamine-6-phosphate synthase catalyzes the first step in the metabolism of hexose and the synthesis of cell walls using D-fructose-6-phosphate and L-glutamine to produce glucosamine-6-phosphate and glutamate , The end product of this pathway, N-acetylglucosamine, is an essential component of bacterial and fungal cell wall construction. Fungal, insect and crustacean chitin, mammalian glycoproteins and mucopolysaccharides are all ultimately synthesized by N-acetylglucosamine. Glucosamine-6-phosphate synthase is an insulin-regulating enzyme that mediates insulin resistance in type II diabetes. Therefore, glucosamine-6-phosphate synthase is considered as a molecular target for the development of drugs that are anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and treat diseases such as type II diabetes and related complications.
