Objective To understand the impact of earthquakes on the health status of drinking water in a severely affected area in Sichuan and to guide the affected people and the drinking water hygiene of earthquake relief units. Methods A total of 41 water samples from 12 water sources in the disaster-hit area were detected by using continuous and intermittent detection methods. Results Earthquakes caused damage to the drinking water facilities of some water sources. There was a big difference in the passing rates of different testing indexes. Conclusion Toxicological indicators of lead and mercury are not exceeded, indicating that after the earthquake water was not contaminated by heavy metals and other poisons. Drinking water turbidity and macroscopically visible indicators and other indicators do not meet the standards will have adverse consequences, educating the affected people and earthquake relief units to develop good drinking water hygiene habits and environmental health control to improve the safety of drinking water plays an important role. After the aftershocks, frequent repairs to damaged water pipelines are of great significance for ensuring drinking water hygiene.
