仿水生物推进技术长期以来一直是专家们研究的领域,最近国外专家宣布已在蹼动推进器研究与试验中取得了可喜的进展,未来船舶有望使用高效率、环保型推进器。专家们观察到,极地的企鹅虽然体态肥胖,走起路来摇摇摆摆,但是一旦跳入水中便游泳自如,不但显得很轻松,而且游泳速度亦很快。究其原因,就是依靠它灵巧的蹼脚和全身的协调,有力地摆蹼加上良好的耐久力来完成的。这便启发专家们深入钻研蹼动原理,开展相关的机/电机械、工程材料、结构和系统的课题设计,并匹配动力。目前,专家们已研制出的蹼动推进器装在船模上能象企鹅在水中那样,靠两只蹼脚划水运动。
