The challenge of moral relativism to the mainstream values can be summarized in three aspects: whether the moral principle has universal inevitability, whether the principle of morality can recognize the principle of morality and whether moral principles can get rid of moral practice conflicts. Pre-Qin Confucianism clears the tension between the benevolence as a general and necessary moral principle and the etiquette as a concrete code of conduct so as to clarify the chaos caused by the confusion of moral relativism. Pre-Qin Confucianism is not as moral In the view of relativism, the principle of morality can not pass the proof of reason and does not exist. Instead, the principle of morality is proof and its implementation still needs rational cognition. In practice, pre-Qin Confucianism advocated exercise of right and wrong and emphasized the moral principle The modification is to better realize the benevolence, thus effectively avoiding moral disputes. Pre-Qin Confucianism is the response and transcendence of moral relativism.
