邓小平同志始终关心和重视党报党刊工作,在实践中形成了邓小平党刊观。邓小平不但亲手创办党刊,亲身指导办刊活动,亲自为党刊撰写文章,还热情地为党刊题词并对党刊工作者予以勉励。邓小平党刊观内容体现在:坚持强调党刊宣传的使命和任务是无条件宣传党的中心工作,强调党刊宣传中要大力弘扬党的优良文风,体现党的优秀作风。邓小平的党刊观是邓小平理论的重要组成部分,是与马克思主义新闻思想一脉相承,同时继承、丰富和发展了毛泽东的党刊观,体现了中华民族传统文化,凝聚了中国共产党人的集体智慧,也极大丰富了中国特色社会主义党刊学的理论宝库。
