“赋”,很早以前已被古人用来论述乐器。战国时有宋玉撰的《笛赋》。“赋”盛行于汉代。王国维称“赋”是汉代的“一代文学”。汉代著名音乐家蔡邕是一位善长“抒情小赋”的名家。“赋”作为一种用来论述乐器的文体,从战国时候出现起一直延续至魏晋六朝。此间有:成公绥专门论及吹口哨技法的《啸赋》;马融的《长笛赋》;嵇康的《琴赋》;杜挚的《笳赋》;傅玄的《琵琶赋》、《笙赋》;陆机的《鼓吹赋》;江淹的《琵琶赋》、《横吹赋》等。
