班固执持《诗》学经义观念,推衍赋为古诗之流,后世论赋缘起者承之并有所发挥,形成“诗—骚—赋”的流变体系,障蔽和模糊了赋体文学与楚辞的直接流承关系,并且将赋的批评纳入诗教的范畴,已偏离了“赋”的本义,疏离了赋体文学的本真,赋非自《诗》始。《诗赋略》“赋分四家”预示了赋的渊源,揭示了赋体文学定型过程中对其他文体因素的借鉴和吸收,故赋渊源于楚辞,宋赋承之,开启汉赋之制,在“骚—赋”嬗变过程中又吸收先秦隐语、战国散文及民间文学等文体因素入赋,赋体文学在汉代逐渐成熟并走向兴盛。
