Kawasaki Steel developed high-strength alloyed hot-dip galvanized steel (GA) for the purpose of weight reduction, collision safety and corrosion resistance. In general, the high strength of GA steel is achieved by adding more alloying elements in the steel, but this method has a great influence on the galvannealing and the spot weldability. This paper discusses the mechanical properties of the newly developed GA steel plate from 5 90 to 980 MPa and the spot weldability of steel plate. Mo, Ti, Nb and other elements are the most suitable strengthening elements in the continuous hot-dip galvanizing line heat treatment. Adding these elements in the steel can achieve the mechanical properties and collision safety of the current cold-rolling without losing the hot-dip galvanizing property Duplex steel level. Due to the decrease of carbon equivalent, the spot welding performance is improved, especially the ductility ratio of welding zone is significantly improved
