Factor H is a regulatory protein for complement-activated alternative pathways that regulate the complement cascade by binding to C3b and convert C3b to iC3b as a cofactor for factor I. The factor is synthesized by human peripheral blood mononuclear cells and found in Human platelets and lymphocytes, which bind specifically to cell surface membrane receptors and initiate certain cellular functions. Human B lymphocytes and macrophages carry a factor H surface receptor.
