To extend the life of older fields, oil and gas companies need to target reserves that are often difficult to prospect and mine. The new directional deep detection logging-while-drilling technology helps geoscientists identify real-time high-resistivity boundary and fluid interface locations in real time. Using this information to optimize well trajectory enables operators to achieve greater economic benefits by increasing throughput, reducing sidetracking, and reducing borehole instability.
