《生活本身》是一部关于绝症病人如何看待死亡的电影,而不是在赞美一个名人的成就和传奇罗杰·伊伯特(Roger Ebert)1994年在评价纪录片《篮球梦》时说:“(这部影片)带着我们、摇晃着我们、促使我们,用新的方式去思考周围的世界,它给我们留下的印象是已触及到生活本身。”触及生活本身,是伊伯特对电影艺术的最高标准之一。也许在他看来,电影虽大多是从生活出发,但最终回到生活并不是一件容易的事。应该不是巧合,伊伯特生前出版的自传,也被他定名为《生活本身》(Life Itself)。和拍电影一样,写自传
