叠片联轴器是近几十年才发展起来的,它是一种补偿小偏移的弹性联轴器。这种联轴器依靠薄金属片的弹性变形来补偿角位移和轴向位移。在各种弹性联轴器中,它的结构比较简单,又属等角速传动。并且,它具有以下一些优点:不需要润滑、安全可靠、装拆方便、寿命长,这种联轴器已在国外许多部门如航空、船舶及轻化工业中广泛地应用。随着我国工业的发展,近年来也开始设计和使用这种联轴器。具有单组叠片的联轴器一般可以补偿不超过1度的角位移和不超过2.5mm的轴向位移。由于补偿的位移类别不同,叠片的载荷和应力状态也不同,因而在设计中也有不同的特点。叠片联轴器适应的功率和转速范围很大,功率可以从几马力到几千马力甚至上万马力,转速可以从低速到高速,若传动轴仔细地经过动平衡,转速可高达20000rpm以上。

Laminated coupling to adapt to a large range of power and speed, power from a few horsepower to thousands of horsepower or even thousands of horsepower, speed from low to high speed, if the drive shaft carefully balanced, speed up to 20000rpm or more.
