1978年下半年,上海市铁路第一小学学生近视率高达38.75％。经过一年的视力矫治和保护工作,学生近视率已下降到18.5％。他们采取的矫治方法是:除大力纠正不良的用眼习惯,改善采光条件,发动家长密切配合外;同时在市眼防所帮助下,发动全校同学点防近视眼药水,认真做限保健操。对重点班级试用双眼近雾视法,分别戴上1D～1.5D～2D不等的凸透镜,达到防治的目的。
In the second half of 1978, the myopia rate of students in Shanghai Primary School was as high as 38.75%. After one year of vision correction and protection, myopia rate has dropped to 18.5%.
