F-16 is a single-seat light fighter, named “War Eagle”, mainly for air combat, but also close to the ground support. The plan was put forward by the U.S. Air Force in 1972 with the aim of developing “small”, “light” and “cheap” fighter jets to be used in conjunction with the F-15 aircraft to make up for the complex and expensive shortcomings of the F-15. The first test flight of the YF-16 in February 1974 was the first pre-production test flight in December 1976 and the first production was delivered in August 1978. The NATO Group of Four (Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway) Decided to replace F-104 F-104G aircraft, the US Air Force
